Textures can be used in so many different ways – the sky is the limit! Today’s texture is a wonderful stone wall that I came across while shooting photos at a dog agility trial.
To illustrate for today, I decided to show you how textures can make text even more expressive. I used the font IMPACT (commercial license, purchased from Fonts.com). You can see how flat and boring it looks all by itself, even with the different font sizes for variety and a stroke to help separate it from the background. After adding a shadow of the text and an overlay of the Stone Wall texture #366-04, you can see it has more impact – the text not only says “stone” … it LOOKS stone, too! Note: if I were to use this in a project, I’d finish it up a bit more by making the text more 3D and distressing the shadow text a bit. But for this purpose, here is the before and after:
Feel free to comment and post links to projects where YOU have used this texture and tell us how you tweaked it to fit your needs. Feedback is welcomed! All textures are available for personal or commercial use. They are NOT allowed to be resold or to be claimed as your own. Just click through for the larger size file, right-click that one and save the texture to your own computer. My sample uses of the texture are not available for any use.
