One of my favorite textures is Bokah (light designs in the out of focus range of the camera lens).  I love capturing it in my photos and using it in post-processing.  This texture is complements of flickr member laughlinc

Texture 366-06 Bokah

For using this texture, I opened a photo of an unidentified Standard Schnauzer waiting at bench during the 2011 Great Western Terrier Show in Long Beach.  I love taking a photo over the shoulder of a pet, to get a glimpse of what they might be looking at.  They often turn into favorite pet loss sympathy cards for my Greeting Card Universe shop.  In using today’s texture, I went with the Multiply Mode (instead of the Overlay that I’ve been using in previous examples).  The fine folks over that The Digital Photography School have an easy-to-follow tutorial, using this same texture.  Here is my final result, before (left) and after (right):

Do you have a different method of using textures, instead of just the Overlay Mode?  Let us know in the comments section.  Feel free to also post links to projects where YOU have used this texture and tell us how you tweaked it to fit your needs.  Feedback is welcomed! All textures are available for personal or commercial use. They are NOT allowed to be resold or to be claimed as your own.  Just click through for the larger size file, right-click that one and save the texture to your own computer.  My sample uses of the texture are not available for any use.

Now – if you’ve gone wild with a texture and just LOVE it … a small donation showing that love sure would be appreciated (but is not mandatory).   Just go to PayPal.com and send your donation to DogBreedz (at) yahoo.com.  Happy Texturing!
